Ramallah – 20/9/2015 – Earlier today, the judge at Ofer military court postponed the hearing session of PLC member and Addameer’s vice-chairperson, Khalida Jarrar, to 12/10/2015 in order to continue hearing witnesses. The court heard only one witness who is currently imprisoned by the Israeli occupation whereas the military prosecution failed to secure the attendance of the other witnesses. The one witness who attended denied all the former allegations against Mrs. Jarrar. As a result the military prosecution declared him a hostile witness and the military court approved their request. The military prosecution further requested the court to issue arrest warrants for the witnesses who did not attend so they would be in custody during the next hearing.
Israeli occupation forces arrested Mrs. Jarrar (52 years old) on 2/4/2015 from her house in Ramallah. Back then the military commander issued an administrative detention order against her for six months that was later reduced to one month and two days. The military prosecution then submitted a charge list against her that mainly related to her work as a PLC member and the alleged membership in an illegal organization. The charge list also mentioned Mrs. Jarrar’s participation in protests and public events which she attended in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners and defending their basic human rights.
