On 22 January 2019, Palestinian Preventive Security Forces arrested the journalist Faysal al-Rifa'i (30 years old) after calling him for an interview. Today Ramallah Court extended his detention period for another 15 days for the porpuse of interrogations. Addameer's lawyer, Muhanad Karajah, who represents al-Rifa'i reported that the suspicions against his are illegal transfer of money, though, al-Rifa'i rejected those suspicions.
Al-Rifa'i is a free-lance journalist and a known human rights defender in his own community. This is not the first time for al-Rifa'i to witness detention by the Palestinian Security Foces as they constantly try to obstruct his work and directly threatening him.
